What’s the Difference Between Plain Weave and Twill Weave

Plain Weave
Plain weave is the simplest weaving method, where each weft thread (the horizontal thread) passes alternately over and under each warp thread (the vertical thread). When viewed up close, the weave pattern resembles a checkerboard.
This type of weave creates a fabric that looks the same on both sides.

Twill Weave
Twill weave is characterized by each weft thread passing over two or more warp threads, creating a distinctive diagonal stripe pattern in the fabric.
A fabric woven in twill has two different sides and is generally stronger than a plain weave.
One of the most common and well‑known examples of twill weave is denim.
